Desdemona
Donavan x Bellissimo
1996 Black Hanoverian Mare 15.2hh
Grand Prix Dressage
Desdemona is an almost tiny Hanoverian mare but her presence makes her look huge. Her movement exhibits such suspension, and elasticity that judges have a hard time not giving her perfect scores.
Sire: Derwisch (Dirk) x Akelei (Argentan)
Donavan is an Elite Hanoverian Stallion born in 1985. In His 100 Day Testing for Stallion Licensing (1988), he received a very high score of 136.16, earning the Reserve Champion honors competing with 18 other stallions. His marks included 9s for rideability, willingness to work, jumping ability, trot and a 10 on his canter. This score still stands as one of the highest earned since the United States 100 Day Stallion Testing has been held. German judges in 1996, at the Hanoverian Stallion licensing in Maryland, declared Donavan East Coast Stallion Licensing Champion based on his performance record at the time and commented on this very fact of enduring quality.Donavan has enjoyed amazing health and soundness all of his life, and has been successful in everything he has done from his brilliant Dressage Career including Grand Prix, Musical Freestyle exhibitions and demonstrations, to presenting clinics with his rider JJ Tate, performing for charitable causes, to being an exemplary sire of championship winning offspring and an approved son. He was a forgiving and calm schoolmaster for a few of us, what a privilege! At the end of the 2008 season, Donavan was listed in 85th place out of 1130 places on the USEF Leading sires -Dressage list. There were many places with more than one stallion tied. This is a remarkable finish for a stallion who was 100 Day tested, completed a successful Grand Prix Dressage career, and has sired all of his foals in the US and Canada.
Dam: Bellissimo
Desdemona's dam line comes from the Hanoverian improvement sires Bolero and Shogun xx. They are well known for producing highly ridable horses. Bolero is the foundation sire of the Hanoverian B-line. Shogun xx shows up in the dam side of many well-known horses, including the dam line of the versatile Celle State Stud stallions Wanderbursh I and Wanderbursh II.
